"do not lean on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him" Proverbs 3:5-6

Acknowledge Him. Acknowledge Him as Someone you will never reach the end of and can never fully understand, as Someone who creates things that cannot be fully figured out. Learning is infinite because God is. But we are too quick to forget this; and it impacts everything, including our interaction with other human beings.

Curiosity can foster healthier community. What do I mean by that?

Community becomes toxic when the people of that community assume they know each other, that they’ve figured each other out...God knows we can’t even fully understand ourselves this side of eternity.

I’ve heard couples that have been married for decades say everyday they are still learning new things about their spouse. That is wonderful and humbling and convicting to me about how I approach relationships to the people I’m closest with.

There is much we can learn about the person sitting beside us at church, the coworker in the cubicle next to us at work or the student we study with at school, and a lot we can learn from them (I don’t care who they are or how old they are).

It will bless our lives and the lives around us to be curious about people (in a positive, healthy way) no matter how long they’ve been with us, no matter how long we’ve “known” them. Complexity is the signature of our Creator.

"As you do not know the path of the wind, or know how life enters the body being formed in a mother's womb, so you cannot understand the work of God, the Maker of all things."

Ecclesiastes 11:5 (NIV)
